Parkeye is founded by current students at George Mason University who got fed up with the parking situation firsthand! The idea was initially sparked in Sami Saleh (opens in new tab) and Trong-Tin Mai (opens in new tab)'s minds, with Tona Otoro (opens in new tab), Shabeer Manalai (opens in new tab), Aayusha Sapkota (opens in new tab), and Rafsan Islam (opens in new tab) being added on as founding members. Yes, your privacy is extremely important to us. Our availability model runs on aggregated, anonymized telemetry — we never tie movement data to individual users. Parkeye uses your vehicle location while within campus radius to help train our backend model to better gauge occupancy; all data is anonymized, encrypted, and used for helping make our service more accurate for all users. We follow a strict data retention policy and will never sell your information!

Parkeye is being built to support all permit categories for our partner campuses. At GMU, that includes student, staff, faculty, and visitor permits. When you set up your profile, you select your permit type and the app filters your options accordingly.

Parkeye is not an official university application, but we partner directly with campus parking departments — starting with GMU Parking and Transportation and GMU IT — to ensure accuracy, compliance, and eventual integration with university systems.

We use a predictive, machine-learning model trained on historical occupancy patterns and live campus signals — like time of day, day of week, events, and class schedules — to forecast how full a lot is during your arrival window. No cameras are placed on vehicles, and no hardware installation is required on your end.

Our model has been backtested against peak-hour lot and garage data and is designed to give you a forecast for when you actually arrive, not just the current moment. Accuracy improves over time as more data is collected. Early access users should expect predictions to sharpen as the app grows.

Yes — one of our core features is a direct admin communication channel. Parking administrators can push real-time alerts about temporary closures, event restrictions, and permit rule changes straight to your phone so you're never caught off guard.

Absolutely. Visitors can use Parkeye to find designated visitor parking, understand time restrictions, and navigate to their area without needing to decipher signs or hunt for information on the university's website.

Yes — Parkeye is completely free for drivers!

We're targeting mobile users, including both iOS and Android, to use Parkeye. Web access is currently only available for admin usage.

Parkeye includes a community forum where drivers can ask questions and parking administrators can respond directly. It's designed to cut through the buried email chains and unanswered confusion that exist today.

Parkeye provides information and guidance based on the best available data, but we are not liable for parking citations. Always verify lot-specific signage when you arrive. That said, we take accuracy seriously — if something was wrong, report it through the app so we can fix it fast.
